WELCOME TO LUZ STUDIOS – MODERN ANALOGUE
owned & operated by Diana Millar and Quinton Gordon
KEEPING IT OLD SCHOOL
We coined the phrase Modern Analogue to reflect our love of analogue processes combined with our desire to work in a modern aesthetic, making new images employing the the skill, craftsmanship and beauty of historic, alternative and non-toxic techniques for image making, printmaking and handmade books.
At Luz Studios, our focus is on collaborations with our wonderful clients, as well, as our own fine art projects and our goal is to make modern works of art that will stand the test of time. Our portrait and commissioned work employs alternative analogue processes to create a unique expression of the subject as well as a legacy piece to pass down to future generations. In our studio you’ll find a small shoppe with an enticing collection of vintage items and work from our personal projects using the historic Wet Plate Collodion process, Silver Gelatin and Photopolymer Gravure printing.
Located on the spectacular west coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island. The studio is nestled in the historic Rock Bay District of Victoria where we enjoy our proximity to the Gorge Waterway and an easy stroll to shops and restaurants downtown.
We offer private tuition and workshops on wet plate collodion, photopolymer gravure printing, traditional silver gelatin photography, and handmade artist books, along with full services for photopolymer platemaking, and printing for professional and amateur artists.
During the summer season we attract clients from across North America and around the world, to Victoria for our Summer Studio Sessions, workshops with visiting instructors from around North America. The studio is also available for residencies and work studies -> contact us for more details!
At Lúz Studios, our goal is to create a studio that combines professional photographic services with artist services and a superior educational experience. We are a creative community where artists can come to work, learn and share in a professional environment.
